Caged animals

I accompanied Alexis at one of her pet-sitting visits. I was charmed by this fresh water shrimp.

Shrimp looks like an Amano shrimp (Caridina multidentata) to me! They make a wonderful algae cleanup crews in freshwater planted aquaria. Hardy little things. The only downside -- and this depends on your perspective -- is that they typically require brackish water for breeding, so they're not prolific in aquaria the same way Red Cherry Shrimp, for example, are.
