First frost and now juncos; I think you can officially keep out the winter coats now.

I love juncos. I call them the "buzzy birds" because of the buzzing trill they make while feeding on the ground.

I call them little zit birds cuz they chatter about zits all the time. zitzitzit!!

No frost here (Portland, OR) yet -- not for another month at least, if then -- but the first juncos arrived on Monday.

I adore juncos. The first winter we lived in our previous apartment, with a backyard that had a wee bit of garden, a small flock of them wintered with me because I emptied my pet birds' leftovers outside. It started with one junco on Thanksgiving Day, and the last ones lingered till April. *must get out plush junco and squeeze it!*
